Pagabon is a prepaid electricity system on Bonaire. The island’s water and electricity provider is WEB: Water- en Energiebedrijf Bonaire. Most homes have a regular electricity connection, but some property owners choose to use Pagabon instead. This is sometimes the case with rental properties.
With Pagabon, you pay for your electricity in advance. You purchase credit yourself and use it to top up the Pagabon meter. This makes it easy to keep track of your electricity usage and costs.
How does Pagabon work?
With Pagabon, electricity is paid for in advance. To purchase new credit and top up the meter, you need the Pagabon meter number. Are you renting a property with Pagabon? Ask the landlord or property manager for the meter number and check how much credit is left on the meter when you move into the property.
Where can you top up Pagabon?
You can top up Pagabon from US$ 10 at one of the following locations:
# WEB Head Office (Kaminda Djabou 35) & Rincon
# Gas Ekspres gas station (Kaya Neerlandia)
# Van den Tweel Supermarket
Tip: Make sure you have your Pagabon meter number with you when purchasing new credit.
A Pagabon meter usually has a deposit of US$ 75. Keep this in mind when taking over or handing over a property, so it is clear who paid the deposit and how it will be settled.
Pagabon and electricity rates
WEB sets the water and electricity rates annually. You can find the current rates and conditions on the WEB Bonaire website. You can also find more information about water and electricity connections in our blog about WEB.
