Did you know that when a property on Bonaire changes ownership, the contract for the Curoil gas cylinders must also be transferred? Buying or selling a house or apartment involves more than just handing over the keys. Most buyers and sellers remember to transfer the water, electricity, and internet services, but the gas cylinders are sometimes overlooked.

Curoil gas cylinders are registered to a person and are not linked to the property address. This means that when you sell your property, the contract for the gas cylinders is not automatically transferred to the new owner.

Transferring Curoil gas cylinders when selling a property

The quickest and easiest option is for the buyer and seller to visit Curoil together to transfer the contract into the buyer’s name. No appointment is required. However, it is important to bring the following documents:

deed of transfer, signed by the notary;
the seller’s existing Curoil contract;
a copy of the passport.

Upon presenting the seller’s existing contract, the seller will receive a refund of the security deposit previously paid for the Curoil gas cylinders. The buyer can pay the cost of the new contract on the spot. Once this has been arranged, Curoil will transfer the contract into the buyer’s name.

If the seller is unable to visit Curoil in person, the security deposit can also be requested by email at customerservice@curoil.com. Please include the following information:

name, address and bank account number;
a copy of the passport;
the contract or proof of payment showing the customer number.

If either party is unable to be present in person, a power of attorney can be provided.

Transferring Curoil gas cylinders online

It is also possible to arrange the transfer of the Curoil gas cylinders online. Keep in mind that this process may take longer than visiting the office in person. To submit an online request, you must first create a Curgas ID. The required fees can then be paid online, and the necessary documents can be emailed to orders-bonaire@curoil.com.

It is important to arrange the transfer in good time. If the gas cylinders are not transferred on time, you may be left without gas for up to two weeks. In addition, you are not permitted to transport the gas cylinders yourself.

Renting out your property

When renting out your property, we recommend keeping the Curoil gas cylinder contract in the property owner’s name. If the contract is transferred to the tenant’s name, the transfer procedure must be completed again every time there is a change of tenant.

Applying for new Curoil gas cylinders

Would you like to cook with gas in your new home, but there are no gas cylinders yet? In that case, you will need to apply for new gas cylinders from Curoil. The easiest option is generally to visit the Curoil office in person. Once the contract has been prepared, the gas installation will first be inspected. The gas cylinders will only be delivered to your home after the installation has been approved. Keep in mind that this process can take approximately two weeks.

Cost of transferring Curoil gas cylinders

The cost of transferring the contract is US$ 254.66 (rates as of January 2026). This consists of:

Two full gas cylinders: US$ 52.50 per cylinder (total US$ 105);
Security deposit: US$ 69.83 per cylinder (total US$ 139.66);
Administration fee: US$ 10.
